G’Day and Welcome
I am writing this Blog today to try and provide some insight and help to other men beginning their Spiritual journey and give some light to a few problems they may face.
My journey has been an amazing one, as will yours, and I have met many people along the way who have shown me love, friendship and given me guidance that has helped me get to this point.
I was lucky enough to meet people straight away who made me feel welcome and who have helped me grow and develop spiritually *Big Hugs Ann and Kerri*.
But
I have also encountered a few people who not only made me feel unwelcomed but also left me wondering whether I was doing the right thing purely because I am a man.
Apparently there is no place for us men amongst the Goddesses and our male energy is unwanted. Unfortunately for them they do not realize that we need both male and female energies to give us balance.
I have heard comments from ladies at meditation classes say that they would not of attended if they knew men were going to be there, and I have been made to think that it was my “weird male energy” that was turning their female attendees away.
Not once however have I been told that I was at a female only meditation class nor was it advertised that way. This underlying discrimination is there and all the while they spin the illusion of being completely loving people who accept all with open arms.
This is an attitude that is all too common and is also something that worries me greatly. Getting started on your spiritual journey is hard enough and often a time of self discovery, emotional upheaval and all these feelings are thrown to the surface. In this time we need to feel we can talk to someone.
We need to talk to people who understand us, people who are travelling this road with us.
What we don’t need is people who make us feel we don’t belong because we are men. Just one of these experiences in this very important time in life is enough to end that persons journey and that not only hurts them but hurts us as well. We all have childhood and adult conditioning as well as pressures put upon us both men and women and the last thing we need is an encounter like that at this time.
I find that this attitude goes against everything that I have learnt and everything that these people claim to be about. I believe that it is our duty as Teachers, Readers, Healers and Guides to help and guide with love those on this very important life-changing journey without discriminating against them.
I don’t hate these people and I wish no ill will toward them as they are products of those who taught them. I do wish them the ability to take a look outside of what the have been taught and to try and see things from a different perspective.
Be daring and ask questions.
Seek your own truth and give love.
Through these encounters I have stayed on my path and have tried different teachers and classes when I felt that things were not right. I asked questions I needed to ask. I hung in there and now have the beautiful friends and teachers anyone could ask for. They have made me feel more than welcome and I feel totally comfortable around them. Through their guidance and encouragement they have helped me in my journey to become a Reiki Master/Teacher and they have inspired me to create the music used in meditation. I love them all dearly and thank them for their understanding and guidance.
I want all of you reading this to know that we need to be able to share our experience and discoveries, both men and women so that we can learn and grow together.
I encourage you guys out there thinking of trying a meditation class for example to jump in and give it a try, it will really change your life.
If you feel that the one you have gone to is not right for you try another. You will find a place that is.
Namaste
Glenn
